"Floating Worlds" - Oil Paintings by Thomas Eldridge

They say that April showers bring May flowers; but at Art On Broadway Gallery, April brings an opportunity for long time Beaverton resident, Thomas Eldridge, to feature his large contemporary oil paintings. The show opens on Wednesday, April 2, and continues through Saturday, May 3. A reception to celebrate his work will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. Come visit with Tom and enjoy complimentary refreshments as well as wine from Stoller Family Estate.

A graduate of Sunset High School in Beaverton and Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Thomas is an international award-winning oil painter who has been a recipient of the prestigious Schneider Merit Award for his contributions to the fine arts in Southern Oregon. He majored in Fine Arts and studied painting and drawing under the late Robert Alston, and printmaking with master printer Lyle Matoush. He was a member of several planning committees for the Schneider Art Museum and director of the Stevenson Union Art Gallery at Southern Oregon University.

April's Art Demo by Thomas Eldridge

You will want to have a front row seat when Thomas Eldridge "conducts" his multi-media painting demonstration on Sunday, April 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. His large contemporary paintings are created with an energy and confidence that capture the movement of his subjects - swirling water, swimming fish, or plant life dancing in a breeze. As always, our Sunday demos are free.

Stoller Family Estate is one of Oregon's most highly regarded vineyards and wineries. Pioneering Oregonian and Founder, Bill Stoller, purchased his family's second-generation farm in 1993 with the vision of cultivating an enduring legacy for the land and Oregon's wine industry. Over the last 20 years, he has patiently transformed the 373-acre property into the largest contiguous vineyard in the Dundee Hills and a sought-after source of fruit for premier producers. Longtime Winemaker, Melissa Burr, works in concert with Vineyard Manager, Robert Schultz, to oversee the site's continued refinement and steward Stoller's legacy of growing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Stoller Family Estate features North America's first LEED Gold certified winery, three guest homes and state of the art tasting room with panoramic vineyard views. Recently awarded Wine Press Northwest's 2014 Winery of the Year.

March Featured Show - "19th Century Masterpieces - Contemporary Abstractions In Fiber," by Diana Unterspan

Diana says of her current exhibit, "Words move us, restrain us, give us wings and roots, brighten our days, keep us company in the night, and can be our friends forever. They hurt, sting, and cause us pain, but they also inform, bring invention, new life, and transformation if we let them."

"In this exhibit, I attempt to reveal the connections that exist between most of my visual art and the written word."

Triad at Trinity  -  Portland Women in Abstract Media

Nikki Dilbeck is one of eight artists featured in this exhibit. It opens on March 9 and continues through April 27 at Kempton Hall in Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 147th NW 19 Avenue, Portland.

Nikki states, "We are drawn to painting abstract compositions because it is a lot like living. Both are tangible yet mysterious, complex yet simple, and infinite in possibility. We find it challenging yet liberating to depend solely upon color, line, shape and texture to create paintings that entice the viewer to visually communicate with the work."

Our free monthly demos continue on the third Sunday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. These events provide a perfect opportunity to better understand the planning, preparation and process that artists undergo when creating artwork.

Diana Unterspan, who is featured in our main gallery for March, will conduct the demonstration and share how she prepares and works with felted wool. Light refreshments are provided. Seating is limited.
