August First Friday - August 8

Our popular Silent Auction returns in August for First Friday only. The auction starts at 5 and ends at 8:30 p.m. Our artists have a selection of wonderful pieces of original artwork with the bidding starting at highly reduced prices. Their hope is that there will be lots of bidding on their work and it will end up selling for close to its value price. Original paintings, jewelry, and hand-dyed scarves are among the offerings. Bidding ends at 8:30 and the person with the highest bid wins the item. Many times the artwork sells at opening bid prices or close to open bid prices. It's fun and a way to purchase original artwork at a real savings.

Special promotions by other downtown businesses include $1 ice cream cones at the Sub Station, beer garden and barbecue at Broadway Saloon/Bootleggers, 20% discount storewide at The Vault Vintage Clothing Store, wine tasting at Rose City Modern, fresh floral bouquets at Beaverton Florists, drawing for lunch and a "Picking Experience" with the owner of Peonies & Possibilities, and 10% off any rental or purchase of merchandise from Costume Avenue during First Friday.

The Tulen Center will celebrate its Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. in front of their business in the Holland Shopping Center at the intersection of East and SW Broadway. They will offer martial arts demos on the hour and half hour throughout the evening

There will be four bands sponsored by the Beaverton Downtown Association - Rich Layton & The Troublemakers will perform Cajun music on Broadway at West Street; Power Pep will offer rock & roll at Angel & 1st; Suzanne Calloway & Two Spirit Jazz will perform at 2nd and Watson, and Zack Bryson will entertain with country music at Beaverton Bakery

Take the free "Party Bus" to get around to all the happenings at First Friday - hop on and hop off at any one of five stops. Plan to eat at one of Portland's favorite food trucks, Grilled Cheese Grill; then grab a snow cone at Beaverton Florists as a cool and refreshing finish to the evening.

Come on out and eat, drink, dance, shop - and check out the progress on the new construction taking place on Broadway. Lots to enjoy!
