Out and About With AOB Artists

We are so fortunate to have such a strong group of artists at Art On Broadway. Several of our members have recently been recognized with special honors; we want to share their successes with you:

Linda Baker took a 3rd Place Award at this year's Oregon Society of Artists Rose Festival Art Exhibit. Linda is an original member of AOB and her still life oil paintings are always favorites of visitors to the gallery. Way to go, Linda!

Alex Boyden will have one of her pastel paintings, "Oregon Planes I," on exhibit in a Cornerstone house at the 2015 Northwest Natural Street of Dreams. The event runs August 1-30. Congratulations, Alex!

Sam Hingston has been juried into the prestigious Bellevue Museum Arts Fair in Bellevue, WA coming up July 24-26. His 70" tall Jellyfish Series #4 piece will surely capture everyone's attention. To take a sneak peak, visit Sam's website www.samhingston.com. We wish Sam all the recognition and success at this event that he deserves!

"Fresh Air," 15 Plein Air Paintings by Gretha Lindwood

We are proud to showcase fifteen new pastel paintings by Gretha Lindwood during the month of July. "Fresh Air" is a solo exhibit which will continue through the  1st of August. An artist's reception to honor Gretha and her latest paintings will be held on Saturday, July 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.

"Sunlight & Shadow," shown below, is a painting of sun dappled light on a path to Wapato Lake on Sauvie Island - trees, shrubs, and grasses all casting shadows across the trail. The painting is 12x12 and is for sale.

We hope you will join us for a glass of wine and some light refreshments; plus enjoy an opportunity to visit with Gretha and many of the other artists who will be present at the reception.

Guest Show for July

Art On Broadway was honored to be a recipient of a $500 grant from the Beaverton Arts Commission this year; the money will be used to help fund two separate exhibits on our guest wall. The first of these is a display of colorful drawings from 3rd graders enrolled in a special art program offered by the Art Smart Foundation, a local non-profit organization. The Art Smart display opened on July 1 and will continue through August 1, with a reception on Saturday, July 11, to honor the 24 young artists whose work is on display.

A special thank you to Blick Art Supply on Cedar Hills Boulevard for its generous donation of $250 worth of gift cards to the Art Smart program. The donation will be used to purchase new art materials for the students use.

Come visit the gallery to see these colorful drawings and to learn more about this program and how you can become involved.
