The gallery will be one of two dozens businesses in the historic district of Beaverton to participate in the Holiday Hustle promotion sponsored by Beaverton Downtown Association. The event starts now and continues through January 6. When customers make a purchase with us, they will be given a game board and get a stamp from the gallery. Once they have collected nine or more stamps they will submit their stamped game board to any of the participating businesses and be eligible to win the Grand Prize of a Visa gift card.
Or, customers can post a picture of themselves on Instagram with their favorite item from each business they visit. Post using hashtag #BuyBeaverton and be entered to win daily prizes of $20 gift certificates.
Some of the other two dozen businesses include Beaverton Bakery, Beaverton Florist, Clockwork Rose Tea House, Rose City Modern, The Vault, Ava's Roasteria, Beaverton Sub Station, and Gloria's Secret Cafe.

And so it goes...
Eleven down, one to go. The end of 2017 is at our doorstep. We hope this has been a year with more pluses than minuses, more smiles than tears, more steps forward and less back - and that somehow, sometime, someway, art has made a difference in your lives.
We are grateful for your interest and support of Art On Broadway this past year. We want you to know how much we appreciate your visits, your purchases, and your referrals. Our best wishes for a wonderful holiday and for exciting times in 2018.
"Year's end is neither an end nor a beinning but a going on,
with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.
Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right."
Oprah Winfrey
Give a Gift of Art
Having a hard time deciding what to give to those on your list this year?
May I suggest you consider a piece of original artwork. It won't be duplicated, it doesn't need batteries, and it won't put on pounds or cause dietary problems. Giving a gift created by the hands and heart of an artist seems more meaningful, more thoughtful, more personal.
We have added some small gift items to our collection of artwork at this time of year - more jewelry by Heather John, small metal tree luminaries by Angela Ridgway, felted wool wine bags and pouches by Patricia Rehm, fused glass photo holders, ornaments and holiday glassware by Rae Campbell, 2018 art calendars by Gretha Lindwood, a book of art photos/poetry by Russell J Young, and mini paintings by Linda Baker, Nancy Cuevas, Virginia Parks, and me, Donna Sanson. Most of these items are very reasonably priced and would make wonderful gifts for teachers, hostess gifts, co-worker gift exchanges, etc.
When couples don't know what to get each other, a great solution might be to visit the gallery together and select a piece of artwork that both find exciting. It can be the beginning of your collection of original art or it can be an addition to your current personal art galley at home or work.
If you're contributing to a group gift along with a number of friends, family members or coworkers, once again consider a piece of artwork that the recipient will remember and appreciate for years. This beautiful watercolor by Mary Burgess is priced at $200 and currently is part of our featured show for November and December.
The fine art quilt by Elizabeth Bamberger or any of the cat themed mini oil paintings by Nancy Cuevas would warm the heart of anyone who receives such a gift. Or we have an equisite selection of glass clocks, platters, dishes, and bowls by Jim Scheller, Rae Campbell, and Vicki Green that are both functional and decorative and would make memorable gifts to be handed down for generations to come.
Come by Tuesday thru Sunday, 11 to 5, and allow us to help you select the perfect art gift for those on your shopping list. Don't forget to attend the December 9 drawing/watercolor demonstration by Mary Burgess - 5 to 8 p.m. Refreshments by member artists and music by Bob Ewing.
The spirit of the holidays is alive and well at Art On Broadway Gallery.

Second Saturdays - A Recap and A Reminder
If you missed the reception on the 2nd Saturday of November for Mary Burgess, you can still see her exceptional watercolor exhibit of "Oregon Lovescape" Tuesday through Sunday, 11 to 5, until the end of December. Our gallery photographer, Russell Young, captured some great shots of the evening and I've included them below.
Be sure to join us on the Second Saturday of December from 5 to 8 when Mary will present a demonstration on how she begins a painting with contour drawing exercises. There will be limited opportunities for guests to try some of Mary's techniques firsthand so don't be shy.
Once again, our friend Bob Ewing will provide music on his keyboard; plus the gallery will provide coffee and dessert to all who attend. Sounds like a great way to spend an evening!
