Two of our regular guest artists and two of our new members will present a demonstration in a medium in which they specialize. These demos are meant to be fun and informative. The schedule for April is shown here:
April 4 - Encaustic Monotype with new member Dianne Jean Erickson
"What I love about the making of these prints is working with gesture, the love of line and irregular shape, spontaneous and in the moment, evidence of the artists hand in the making of a mark. They come from mind to hand to paper in very little time and without preconceived ideas about what they should be. " ...Dianne Jean Erickson
April 11 - Drawing With Pencil & Charcoal, Guest Artist George Schweser
George has been a regular participant in our guest shows since we first started offering them. He holds a BFA in Painting from Kansas City Art Institute; we are grateful to him for his offer to conduct a demo here at the gallery.
George plans to demonstrate drawing with pencil during the first hour and follow with a hour of drawing demo using charcoal and pastel.
April 18 - Watercolor, Guest Artist Olga Ivkin
Olga, like George, is a regular participant in our Call to Artists open shows. She is also a guest artist this year in our Spring Boutique. Formally trained in fine arts at one of Russia's most prestigious art universities, Strooganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry, Olga has graciosly offered to share her training and talent as she demonstrates her watercolor process for us.
Patricia also joined us in March 2017 after participating in our 2016 Holiday Boutique. We are very happy to have her as a member and to share her wonderful fiber artwork with the public. Her scarves, purses, bags, and hats have already proven to be popular with our guests.
Patricia has been working with fiber arts since 1975, recently creating and embellishing felt pieces, both functional and whimsical. She uses specially dyed fibers, an ancient felting technique, and hand sculpting, to create one-of-a-kind lightweight, durable, and exquisite pieces of art.
