First Friday in September

The public is invited to join us once again on Friday, September 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. to celebrate First Friday in downtown Beaverton. We will conduct our usual First Friday auction from 5 to 8:30 p.m. with a wide range of original art opening at value prices. Most of our 18 artists will have some offering for the auction so look for great buys on jewelry, glass, ceramics, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, and photography.

Rae Campbell will demonstrate fused glass design throughout the evening. Rae is a great teacher and her enthusiasm for what she does will charm you.

Guest Artist, Lana Nelson, Presents "Autumn Reflections"

Art On Broadway is pleased to present eight new oil paintings by Guest Artist, Lana Nelson. Her exhibit opens on September 7 and continues through September 29, with a reception on Saturday, September 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. Complimentary wine and refreshments will be served.

Lana's work is a tribute to Autumn, with the intense colors and beauty that the season shares with all of us. Her final piece in the series depicts the Beaverton History Center celebrating the holidays with music, dance and good cheer.

Please join us in our own celebration of Lana's artwork.

"Cityscapes," by Annie Salness

"Cityscapes" opened today at Art On Broadway and will continue through Saturday, September 1. A reception to honor Annie Salness will take place on Saturday, August 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.

I don't think you'll find a better exhibit anywhere in the Portland area than this one put together by Annie. Three of the acrylic paintings are 36x48 and depict the ebb and flow of traffic in busy downtown settings. She simplifies complex scenes, applying detail only where it's important; uses a neutral palette but places intense color in all the right spots; and handles light and shadow better than anyone else I know. This is a show you will not want to miss! We feel so honored to represent Annie Salness!

"Look Both Ways," and "Two Way," Acrylic on Canvas by Annie Salness

Jensen, Marlene King, Wil LaBelle, Anna Lancaster, Mac McDonald, Barbara McQueen, Jane Means, George Schweser, Isabel Villar, and Mary Williams.

Successful First Friday

Carli Kruse did a wonderful demo last night, entertaining visitors to First Friday and educating all of us on the ins and outs of lampwork bead making. Despite the hot weather, she remained behind the propane driven torch and created stunning glass beads which will soon become part of new earrings or necklaces. A big thank you to Carli.

Join us September 7 at First Friday when Rae Campbell will demonstrate the art of fused and high fired glass design.

Our second Silent Auction Event at First Friday was very well received by the public; 11 of our artists sold 14 pieces of original artwork to happy patrons who purchased wonderful pieces of art at bargain prices.
