Photos From Our June Reception

Thanks to our gallery photographer, Don Schwartz, we have a photo history of each of our receptions. If you attended our June reception, you might recognize yourself in one of the following images. If you missed the event, you will get a sense of the good time we had and hopefully will be able to  attend our July 12 reception. Potter's Vineyard will be our wine sponsor and our members will provide a selection of goodies for you to enjoy - and of course the artwork will be sublime!

Going and Coming

June was the final month of Myla Keller's membership in the gallery. We will miss her -  her sense of humor, her mentorship, her commitment, and of course her artwork. Myla has moved to Washington state to be near her daughter and son, and to start another exciting chapter in her rich and exciting life. Good health,  wealth, and much happiness dear Myla!

Taking Myla's place is Wally Schwab, a ceramic artist who joins our ranks on July 1. Wally is an internationally recognized artist, and a recipient of the prestigious Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation grant. He has shown his work throughout the United States as well as the Victoria & Albert Museum, London and the first World Ceramic Biennale in Korea. He holds a BS from Portland State University and an MFA in ceramics from Alfred University, New York.

He creates simple forms with vivid colors, a blend of technical and artistic mastery. He established the ceramics departments at Marylhurst College, Clackamas Community College and Portland community college Rock Creek campus. He has also taught at Oregon College of Art and Craft and Catlin Gabel School.

We welcome Wally to our family!

Nikki Dilbeck - Featured Member Artist for July

"New Abstract Landscapes," our July Featured Show with paintings by Nikki Dilbeck, opens on Wednesday, July 2, and closes on Saturday, July 26. You are invited to attend our Artist's Reception on Saturday, July 12, 6 to 9 p.m., and help us celebrate Nikki and her latest work.

Dilbeck is a "snowbird" spending half of the year in Arizona and half here in Oregon. Despite denying that her landscapes "are of no specific place and that often 'landscape' refers primarily to the compositional design of a painting," her color palette often suggests the opposite.

"Mesa," shown below, is a 24x18 acrylic on panel. It is rich in color and texture - signature elements in all of Nikki's work. She enjoys the challenge of experimenting with materials and following her intuition to make each scene uniquely her own.

Be sure to visit the gallery during July to see Nikki's paintings in person!

Opportunities for Great Buys of Original Artwork at Art On Broadway on First Friday

Art On Broadway is a favorite destination for art lovers on First Friday in historic downtown Beaverton. We stay open from 5 to 9 for these monthly events and offer opportunities to purchase original artwork from some of our 20 member artists at low starting bids. The auction closes at 8:30 p.m. when the highest bidder on each item secures the piece of artwork. Stop by and check out the auction items displayed outside and then visit us inside to see the latest exhibit.

This month, First Friday falls on June 6; most downtown businesses stay open from 5 to 8 p.m. with special promotions. The theme for June is "Gardens Galore," and many of the sidewalk vendors will feature garden-related products and services.

You can also enjoy live music throughout our area, take a free ride in the hop in, hop out limo , pick up a free First Friday reusable tote bag, and visit all the other 34 storefront businesses and numerous sidewalk vendors during a night out in Beaverton. The event is sponsored by the Beaverton Downtown Association and the City of Beaverton's Main Street Program.

Music in June will feature Rich Layton & The Troublemakers; Doug Fulton; and the Don Crouthers Trio. Host Business, Beaverton Florists, will offer beer tasting by Golden Vallery Brewery along with plants, hanging baskets, and floral bouquets.
