AOB Artists - Out & About

Gretha Lindwood, whose featured show at AOB continues through October 27, has two paintings juried into the Northwest Pastel Society's Members Show on display now through October 29 at the Columbia Center for the Arts, 215 Cascade Street, Hood River, Oregon. "Countryside Walk" and "The Breckenridge Place" are both pastel paintings. The latter was painted en plein air during Telluride Plein Air 2012.

Also, congratulations to Gretha for having her pastel painting, "The Harmony of Winter," juried into Beaverton's 30th Annual Visual Arts Showcase. This event takes place from November 3-11, at Beaverton City Library. View Gretha's painting in person at the Showcase's Gala Reception on November 3 from 7-9.

Steve Kekule has two paintings juried into the Beaverton Showcase. Both are acrylic and both highlight Steve's strong use of form and content. Congratulations to Steve.

Kudos to Diana Unterspan as well. Diana is a recent addition to AOB and had her "Pointillist Portrait" accepted by Gallery 114. The 8x8 piece of art was created using encaustic (beeswax). Diana exhibits her handmade wool and straw hats at AOB.

Linda J. Baker was honored with an array of awards at the recent Painters Showcase exhibit at Jenkins Estate. Her oil painting, "Storm Lifting," took 3rd Place; and she tied for Artists Award ("Caroline In Silver") and People's Choice ("Silver With Nectarines"). What an achievement! Congratulations, Linda.

November 10 and 11 are the dates for the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Artisan Fair, 147 NW 19th at Everett, Portland. Elaine Tan will be there with her stunning stone jewelry designs, and Sue Jensen will have her ornaments made with wine corks for sale. Stop by between 10-4 on Saturday and 9-3 on Sunday.

Sue will be a very busy lady in the next couple of months. She will have work in an International Encaustic Artists exhibit at Milepost 5 for the first two weeks in November, as well as participating in the Local 14 Holiday Gallery, 1st and B, Lake Oswego during November and December.

We're so proud to have all these talented artists as members of our gallery!

Coming In November: The Pauls

During the month of November, the featured walls and pedestals at Art On Broadway will be graced with the work of Kris and Willy Paul. The husband and wife team from Lake Oswego have collaborated on "Nature's Impressions: Abstract/Ikebana." Their show will open on November 1 and close on December 1, with an Artists Reception on Saturday, November 3.

Kris is a ceramic artist whose featured work is for use in Ikebana floral design. Expressing the raw clay, she creates forms that are simple in design but add a complexity intricate in the completion of Ikebana arrangements. The piece depicted is "Crimson Thread," made of Black Mountain Stoneware with Copper Red Glaze. Maple boughs and Iris complete the design.

Willy, an architect by profession, will feature abstract flora photography taken to the extreme. His images are manipulated in the camera and then printed on metal, resulting in an extreme view of the natural landscape. Abstract L157 is shown below.

Come and enjoy lively conversation with these talented artists at the reception in their honor on November 3 from 6 to 9 p.m.
